You Can Do It!

In one of my netball teams a few years ago, one of my team members, without even knowing it taught me about positive self-talk.

Before every game and in each quarter break she would say ‘you can do it.’

When I was playing netball in the middle of HSC, she would ask how I was going and my little overwhelmed self would say, ‘I’m just getting through it,’ and you guessed it, she would say ‘you can do it.’

Looking back on this my friends and I would joke around with each other saying ‘you can do it’ trying to copy her… and now I realise this simple phrase is what I often say to myself when I’m having a hard day in business.

That client is being tricky…

The work you produced for that client wasn’t up to expectations…

That blog post didn’t get as much traction as you thought…

You aren’t getting the income you would have hoped…

Today you just feel like being around people in an easier job…

Your family and friends don’t quite get just how hard it is to run a business…

Well today, I want to send this reminder to you… YOU CAN DO IT.

If you are feeling defeated, go out and buy a treat for yourself.

If you aren’t getting clients, go do some personal outreach.

If you are feeling so overwhelmed, hire someone to help you out.

I never thought I would be a business owner, I never realised how hard being a business owner was, I never realised how many days there would be where I felt like handing in the towel and giving up… but then I’d hear that voice ‘you can do it’

Even though I may not know you personally, I do KNOW that this world needs what you have, that your business can succeed, that you can overcome.

You got this, you can do this.
