4 Ideas to Stay Consistent on Instagram Stories

I don’t know about you but I really struggled to stay consistent on Instagram stories. I didn’t know what to post, I felt my life wasn’t very interesting and I also really struggled to show up in a consistent way… so I began a research tunnel of lots of different Instagram story strategies people have suggested and in this blog post I want to share four of the simplest ones I came across. I have found that through implementing a mix of these strategies I have come to love Instagram stories and I am finding that my engagement is increasing because of it.

#1 Share one minute of your life a day

I love this because it sounds so simple, but it is so effective and I can guarantee that you can find 1 minute worth of content a day! Credit to @jennakutcher for this idea.

Some things I have shared in my one minute a day:

  • Client work

  • Marketing something

  • Showing behind the scenes of something I’m working on

  • A picture of my desk

  • A picture of me talking about something or someone I am appreciating

  • Sharing different instagram content from other people

  • Sharing a recent blog post/newsletter

  • Sharing a tip or piece of advice

  • Get to know me

  • Question sticker

  • Hanging out the washing

  • Spending time with family

  • Cooking dinner

#2 Share 5 stories a day, and at least two of these days show your face!

I am a girl who loves goals, so I liked this idea because it gave me a tangible number to always aim to have. I implement this strategy on weekdays (and give myself grace on weekends). I love that it took away the stress of having to show my face every day, but it also gave me the goal to show up at least two day which felt achievable. I got this idea from @sarah.airey.co, I also loved the idea from @ivyandellestudio who says she sometimes records a few stories for the week all in one and does an outfit change because then she can be present with her family throughout the rest of the week.

#3 Hire someone to create a content calendar.

I hired @socialsavvyhq to create a custom content calendar for me and I love it! She provides me with prompts for my stories that are relevant to the blog post content I have written. Having an outsider perspective recommending ideas to you is a great way to get and it is a small way to start the journey of outsourcing.

Here is a little snippet of one she made for me:

#4 Get creative with your designs.

What helps me stay creative and motivated for stories is having graphics or design ideas to show up and try.

I love browsing creative market for instagram story templates, (a few of my favs are Basil + Bark, and coded creative). In addition to browsing templates, I also enjoy watching youtuve videos for inspiration of design, I recently watched one from Swabbie with some great design tips and tricks.

As you can see they are nothing fancy, but they are simple and practical tips that you can implement to help uplevel your Instagram story game. Since trying these four tips I have seen great results and people are engaging a lot more with my stories!

Share in the comments below which one you are going to start implementing.
